I've been doing digital marketing for over 20 years. Google Ads is what I'm known for, but I also run Meta Ads, TikTok Ads, handle SEO, and build websites. Based in Abergele, North Wales. I work with businesses across the region who want someone who actually knows what they're doing, not an account manager reading from a script.

Chunka isn't about being another agency. It's just me. No committees, no layers of people, no long contracts. You talk to me, I do the work, and you see results or I figure out why not. That's it.

The Backstory

20+ Years Doing This

Been in digital marketing since 2001. Started building websites when tables were still a thing (if you know, you know), moved into SEO back when Google was genuinely useful, then specialised in paid advertising when it became clear that's where the actual results were.

Started with small local businesses running £500/month budgets. Worked my way up to six-figure monthly spends for national brands. Agency-side, in-house, everything in between. Every platform, every industry, every budget level. You learn what works, what doesn't, and what's just noise.

The common thread? Most of it is simpler than agencies make it sound. They complicate things because complexity justifies fees. I just get on with it.

Why North Wales Matters

I'm based in Abergele. This isn't London or Manchester, and that's the point. I understand how businesses work here. Coastal tourism, local retail, the caravan parks, the seasonal fluctuations. I know that a "North Wales strategy" from a London agency is just their standard template with some Welsh place names swapped in.

Local knowledge isn't a marketing gimmick. It's knowing which months to push, which audiences actually convert, and what messages resonate with people who live here or visit here.

The Technical Stuff

20+ years means I've seen most things break at least once. Google Ads inside out. Search, Shopping, Display, YouTube, Performance Max. Meta campaigns since they were called Facebook Ads. TikTok, Snapchat, Amazon. Optimised hundreds of landing pages, built plenty of WordPress sites.

More importantly, I've seen enough to know when something's actually broken versus when it's just variance. I don't panic over day-to-day fluctuations, and I don't get excited by vanity metrics. ROAS, conversion rate, actual revenue. That's what matters.

How Chunka Started

The Story

The name came from a drive home from London years back. I had a DJ background and was thinking about doing something on my own terms. Driving back, I came up with the name Chunkafunk. Bit silly, but memorable. Eventually shortened it to Chunka, which worked better for an actual business. It's distinctive, and it doesn't sound like "Blue Sky Digital Solutions" or whatever generic name every other agency uses.

By that point, I'd worked in agencies long enough to understand why people hate them. Account managers who don't know the difference between CPC and CPM. Strategy decks that say nothing. Monthly reports that look impressive but hide declining performance. Conference calls where everyone talks and nothing gets decided. I'm not bitter about it, agencies have their place. But there's definitely space for someone who just does the work without the theatre.

The Anti-Agency Approach

After years in the industry, I was tired of the agency model. Not because agencies are evil, they're just inefficient. Layers of people between you and the person doing the work. Account managers who can't answer basic questions. Junior staff learning on your budget. Long contracts that lock you in whether performance is good or not.

So Chunka is deliberately the opposite. No account managers, you talk to me. No junior staff, I do the work. No long contracts, we work together as long as it makes sense. No complexity for the sake of complexity.

It's not for everyone. Some businesses want the reassurance of a big agency with a fancy office. Fair enough. But if you want someone experienced who'll just sort your campaigns out and report back honestly, that's what this is.

How I Work

You Talk To Me

No account managers. No "your success team." Just me. When you have a question, I answer it. When something needs changing, I change it. When performance drops, I tell you why and what I'm doing about it. No waiting for someone to "check with the team."

Straightforward Communication

I don't do jargon unless you want it. I don't write reports that sound impressive but say nothing. If something's working, I'll tell you what and why. If something's not working, same thing. No fluff, no spin.

Fast Decisions

Need something changed in your campaigns? It gets changed. No waiting for approval chains. No scheduling a call to discuss whether to schedule a call. I just make the decision and do it.

Results, Not Reports

I'm measured by one thing: does your marketing work? If your campaigns aren't generating leads, sales, or whatever we agreed matters, then I'm not doing my job. I can create fancy dashboards if you want them, but I'd rather spend the time improving your campaigns.

Honest Advice

Sometimes the honest answer is "don't spend money on this." If your website's terrible, fix that before running ads to it. If your margins don't support paid advertising, I'll tell you. If SEO makes more sense than PPC for your situation, I'll say that even though PPC pays better.

This might sound obvious, but plenty of agencies will happily take your money and run campaigns they know won't work. I'd rather tell you up front and keep things straightforward.

If we work together and it's not delivering results, I'll tell you that too. No long contract lock-in, no awkward breakup conversations. We tried it, it didn't work out, fair enough.
